Progressive Insurance has been a company on the rise for the last 7-10 years. They have maintained a competitive, wide ranging auto insurance product. They have attempted to add a home insurance product, added a Business General Liability package division to add to the their very successful business auto division. Their claims have been amongst the best in the entire industry and their technology and ease of doing business was the best.
Progressive Car Insurance
In my view, Progressive has been declining in quality over the last few years. This year in particular, their car insurance has taken a larger than market rate increase. Every insurance company has taken rate increases on car and home insurance. For the first time in the 15 years that I’ve been working with them, Progressive has out paced the market with the rate increases. Because of this, for the first time in 15 years, our insurance agency is losing more insurance business than we are writing with Progressive.
Progressive Home Insurance
The Progressive Home Insurance policy is still the most restrictive insurance policy on the market. I have not found them to offer a competitive rate for the last 4 years. We do not write the Progressive Home Insurance Product.
Progressive Business Insurance
The Progressive Business Insurance division has been a bright spot. It is a new division, so there will be a few growing pains. The insurance quoting system is easy to use. They write a variety of businesses and have a really good property package options for their Business Owners Insurance Policy.
Progressive Claims Service
The Progressive Claims Service has kept their high standard of operations. Through a difficult claims year in 2022, Progressive has handled their claims as quickly and as fairly as any insurance company that we work with.
Progressive Letter Grade
Overall, I give Progressive Insurance a “B”. For me, this is disappointing because Progressive has always been a top rated carrier with a huge upside. Unfortunately, I see them headed in the other direction right now. Like most companies, this has been a very challenging time with inflation and a shrinking workforce. The issues that I have been seeing started before the increased inflation problem. There has been a shift in the insurance company. I hope they can get things sorted out soon.
